The short answer: once your order is paid for, the work we produced for you is yours. Here are the details, as section 9 of the Terms of Service sets them out.
The rule
Once an order is paid for, the copy, designs and images we produce for you are yours. You own them outright, and you may use, edit, adapt, move or republish them without limit and without any further payment to us.
By place of publishing
- Your own address: the page sits on your address and stays there.
- A subdomain we provide: the content is yours, the address is ours, and the page is hosted on our infrastructure. You can move the page to your own address later.
- Our blog network: the text is yours, and the published copy stays hosted with us. We keep the right to go on hosting that copy, so that the links you were given keep working. You can ask for the text at any time.
- Your dedicated blog: the blog carries your name, and on request we provide an export of your published content, so you can take it elsewhere.
What ownership does not cover
Our own tools, templates and systems stay ours, and they are not part of what you buy. What you own is the work we produced for you.
What you send us
You are responsible for anything you send us: logos, photos, text and claims. By sending it, you confirm that you have the right to use it.
An illustrative example: if you send photos from a supplier's catalogue to appear on your page, first make sure you are allowed to use them. And if you send a figure or a claim, send its source too, because the accuracy of the facts you give us is your responsibility.
Reselling under your own brand
Reselling the work to your own clients is a supported use. On Complete, the delivery report goes out under your brand, with your logo, your colours and your sign-off, and no mention of WannaSEO.
Quick answers
Can I put an article's text on my own website or my social pages? Yes. Once the order is paid, the text is yours, and you can republish it as you like.
Can I edit the page myself? The right to edit is yours. A page we host, though, is changed through us: send us what you want changed. If the change corrects something that does not match your brief, it costs nothing.
What happens to my content if I ask you to delete my personal data? Deleting your data may mean we can no longer maintain content we published for you. If that is the case, we tell you clearly before acting. Details are in Privacy and your data.
Do my network articles stay up? We keep hosting them so your links keep working. If we need to move a network site or change its address, we keep your links working, or give you replacement links where that is not possible.
Does the dedicated blog disappear if I do not renew? Not on the date without notice. We contact you before anything changes, and you can ask for an export of your content. See The dedicated blog: the first year and after.
